This tree is called Cay Phuong, meaning Phoenix Tree, in Vietnam. It is a symbol of summer, often planted in schools and producing red flowers called Hoa Phuong during the season. The tree is a popular image for students and teachers alike, with many students seeing it as a sign that summer is near. For some, it may also evoke a sense of bittersweet nostalgia, as it could be their last summer as a student.
The art in this piece depicts my old school and was created using Unreal Engine 5. To animate all of the students, I used AccuRig for the first time, which saved me a lot of time compared to manually rigging, skinning & animate each character.
